Mountain Buggy Duet Review

– the complete Mountain Buggy Duet review!

YSG Rating: 4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Weight: 32.4 lbs

The Mountain Buggy Duet is a side-by-side double stroller by the top brand Mountain Buggy. It is a top quality double stroller that can be used for both newborn twins and toddlers.

The Mountain Buggy Duet is quite expensive compared to most double strollers but also has quite a number of features that makes it stand out compared to most. It has all terrain wheels that lets you go over any terrain. It has lockable swiveling front wheels and an all-wheel suspension system for a smooth and easy ride. It is also car seat compatible, bassinet compatible, and has an adjustable handlebar.

Read below for a quick review of all its features:

Mountain Buggy Duet Stroller Features

Convertible Stroller: the Mountain Buggy Duet can be converted from a double to a single stroller! You can easily remove one of the seats and replace it with a stroller basket. This converts it from a double to a single stroller for one kid instead of two. This feature is quite rare for side-by-side strollers and most of them don’t even allow you to detach the second seat.

If one of your kids outgrows the stroller, you simply remove one of the seats and convert it to a single stroller. You won’t have to walk around with one stroller seat empty, or spend extra on a single seat stroller!

Car Seat Compatible: the Mountain Buggy Duet is car seat compatible. It allows you to detach the stroller seats and replace them with up to two car seats. You can attach any of the Mountain Buggy infant car seats to the stroller frame without needing a car seat adapter.

As a bonus, you can also attach car seats from other top brands like Britax, Chicco, etc, to the stroller frame. But with this, you’d have to use the Mountain Buggy car seat adapter.

Note: both the car seat adapters and car seats are not included in the price. You’d have to buy them separately.

Bassinet Stroller: Except with luxury style strollers like Bugaboo, it’s hard to find a side-by-side double stroller that is also bassinet compatible. The Mountain Buggy Duet however is also bassinet compatible! You can attach the Mountain Buggy bassinets to the stroller frame, transforming it into a nice pram for two.

Newborn Stroller: The Mountain Buggy Duet is also a newborn stroller! This is also quite rare for most side-by-side strollers. The stroller seat can be used from the birth or your kid till they are much older.

In addition, by attaching either the car seat or bassinet, you can also carry up to two newborns aboard the stroller. This makes the Mountain Buggy Duet a nice option for carrying twin babies. But you can also carry a newborn and a toddler aboard the stroller – using a combination of the stroller seat and the bassinet.

Reversible Seat: the stroller seats for the Mountain Buggy Duet can be adjusted to be either forward facing or backwards facing. You can have your kids facing you or facing forward.

Multi-Position Recline: in addition, the stroller seats can be adjusted into multiple positions. You can have your babies sitting upright or laying back into more comfortable positions.

5-Point Harness: in terms of safety, the Mountain Buggy Duet has a 5-point harness that helps to keep your kids safely strapped into the stroller seats. As babies tend to move around on their own, the harness always ensures that they safely tucked into the stroller seat while it moves.

All-Terrain Wheels: in terms of wheels, the Mountain Buggy Duet has nice all-terrain wheels that allow you to ride easily over any terrain. The stroller goes nicely over rough or grassy terrain.

Lockable Swiveling Front Wheels and Suspension System: In terms of ease of maneuvering and giving a smooth ride, I give the Mountain Buggy Duet a nice plus. It includes lockable swiveling front wheels that makes it easier to maneuver the stroller. And the suspension system helps to give you and your baby a smooth and bump-free ride. This is the dream feature for any stroller you wish to buy. You can ride with your baby easily and hassle-free. And don’t have to worry about waking your baby up because the stroller keeps bumping around.

Adjustable Handlebar: the stroller also has a height adjustable handlebar. It is great for both tall and short parents. And it allows you to easily adjust the handlebar to suit the height of the parent using the stroller. It saves you the backache or shoulder pain from having to hunch over or push at an uncomfortable position.

Self-Standing Fold: the Mountain Buggy Duet has a quick fold feature that lets you easily fold up the stroller. It lets you fold up the stroller quick and easy in one motion and into a self-standing position. It also folds up quite compactly for a double stroller. This makes it easy to carry and store even in your car.

Compact Double Stroller: the Mountain Buggy Duet is quite compact for a double stroller. At just 25 inches wide, it is narrow enough to fit through most doors.

Storage Basket: For storage, the stroller includes a large rear-accessible basket for storing your on-the-go items. You can carry your diapers, bottles, toys or snacks while on-the-go.

Extendable UPF50 Stroller Canopy: the Mountain Buggy Duet has a 3-panel extendable canopy that provides your kid with enough cover. It has a UPF50, sunproof canopy that helps to protect you kids against harmful UV rays.

Child’s Weight: The stroller weighs about 32.4 lbs and is able to carry up to 40 lbs for each kid. This carrying capacity is quite small compared to most strollers. So you cannot expect to use it for bigger kids or kids more than 40 lbs.

Mountain Buggy Duet Reviews

Before making a buying decision, it is always nice to review the pros and cons before going with a stroller. Here is a short overview for you:

Pros
  • Convertible stroller
  • Car seat compatible
  • Newborn stroller seat
  • All terrain wheels with suspension system
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Can fit through most doors
Cons
  • Not suitable for big kids
  • Heavy at 32.4 lbs for smaller parents
  • Difficult to unfold

The Mountain Buggy Duet is a really nice alternative to a luxury style side-by-side double stroller. It has a lot of features that makes it on par with luxury strollers that cost double the price. It however, has some Cons which includes – being too heavy at almost 33 lbs. Although it is not surprising for a double stroller, it is still quite heavy especially for smaller parents. It would be harder to carry and maneuver compared to a lighter stroller. In addition, the stroller also takes a bit of effort to unfold, this could be annoying especially when you’re in a hurry.

And lastly, the stroller is not suitable for kids weighing more than 40 lbs. This is quite little compared to the average stroller that usually carries up to 50 lbs. Your kid would have to give up the stroller sooner than later!
