City Select vs Contours Options – Affordability

In terms of affordability, the Contour Options is a bit more affordable than the City Select. The City Select costs around the same in the single stroller mode, but once converted to a double stroller, it costs even more!

In terms of quality however, the City Select is more sturdy and doesn’t feel as plastic as the Contour Options. So it is really a matter of higher quality over affordability.

City Select vs Contours Options – Features

Single to Double Stroller: while the Contour Options is a double stroller, the City Select is a convertible stroller that can be transformed from a single to a double stroller. If you buy the City Select as a single stroller, you can easily attach a second seat to the stroller frame to carry a second baby. This makes it great for growing families where you can simply upgrade your stroller once you have a second child!

Although the Contour Options is not branded as a convertible stroller, you can still ride with one stroller seat attached instead of two. This way, you can also ride with one or two babies aboard the stroller when you need to.

Car Seat Compatible: Both strollers are car seat compatible. Using a car seat adapter, you can easily attach the Baby Jogger infant car seat to the City Select stroller frame. And the car seats from multiple brands to the Contours Options stroller frame. The Contour Options and City Select are compatible with car seats from top brands like – Britax, Chicco, Nuna, and Maxi Cosi. You only need to purchase the car seat adapters, that allow you to easily attach the car seat to the stroller frame.

Note: for both strollers, the car seats and car seat adapters need to be purchased separately.

Bassinet Stroller: In addition to being car seat compatible , both trollers are also bassinet compatible. The City Select allows you to attach up to two bassinets to the stroller frame. But the Contour Option only gives room for one bassinet. This feature allows you to easily transform both strollers into a stylish pram for two kids.

Note: the bassinet is not included in the stroller prices, so you’d have to purchase it separately for either stroller.

Newborn Stroller: Although the seats for both strollers cannot directly be used for newborns, you still have the options of either the car seat or bassinet to safely carry your newborns aboard the stroller. By replacing the stroller seats of both strollers with either a car seat or bassinet, your newborn(s) can comfortably ride aboard either stroller.

With both strollers, you can carry either a combination of two newborn twins, or a newborn and a toddler!

Multi-Position Recline and Adjustable Footrest: Both strollers have a multi-position recline feature that lets you easily adjust the stroller seats into multiple positions. You can have your kids sitting upright or laying back to take a nice nap.

In addition to the recline, both strollers also have a footrest attached to the seats. The footrest provides more comfort by giving your child room to rest their legs while sitting aboard the stroller. The footrest for both strollers can also be adjusted into multiple positions making it more comfortable for your baby depending on their sitting position.

5-Point Harness: in terms of safety, both strollers have a 5-point harness system that keeps your baby safely strapped into the stroller seat. As babies tend to move around when you aren’t paying full attention, the harness helps to keep them safely strapped into the stroller seats.

Reversible Stroller Seat: lastly, both strollers also have a reversible seat feature. The stroller seats for both strollers can be adjusted to be either forward or backwards facing. You can have you babies facing forwards, backwards, or even each other!

This also gives you even more options for riding the stroller!

Quick Fold: while the fold for each stroller is not so compact, they both have a quick fold feature that lets you fold them up quite easily. !

Adjustable Handlebar: the City Select has a height adjustable handlebar that allows you to easily adjust the handlebar to the height of the parent handling the stroller! This feature is quite nice for tall and short parents, where you can easily adjust the handlebar to your height or your partner’s.

The Contour Options unfortunately does not have this feature.

City Select vs Contours Options – Wheels

The City Select has all-terrain wheels that allows you to ride over multiple terrain easily and smoothly. You can go over grassy paths and unpaved roads. The Contour Options on the other hand does not have all-terrain wheels. You cannot ride it easily over grassy or sandy terrain, but it moves nicely on even roads and sidewalks.

So if you’d prefer an all-terrain wheels stroller, then the City Select is the better option for you!

Both strollers however, have an all-wheel suspension system that helps to prevent your stroller from jiggling around while you move. This helps to ensure you and your baby have a smooth and bump-free ride while you move.

City Select vs Contours Options – Weight & Capacity

In terms of stroller weight, both the City Select and Contour Options are quite heavy at 34 lbs. This is unsurprising for double strollers however, a weight of more than 30 lbs is quite heavy to carry especially for smaller parents.

Contours Options Stroller Weight: 34 lbs

Baby Jogger City Select Stroller Weight: 34 lbs

Although both strollers weigh about the same, the City Select has more carrying capacity than the Contour Options:

Contour Options Carrying Capacity: 40 lbs

Baby Jogger City Select Carrying Capacity: 45 lbs

City Select vs Contours Options – Dimensions

As tandem style double strollers, both the City Select are quite compact and you won’t have issues going through doors compared to side-by-side double strollers.

Dimensions for both strollers:

Unfolded Dimensions:

  • Contours Options – 47″ L x 26″ W x 42″ H
  • City Select – 43.5″L x 25.75″W x 38.5″H

Folded Dimensions:

  • Contours Options – 28.5″ W x 43.5″ H
  • City Select – 12.5″L x 25.75″W x 32.75″H

Both strollers fold up a bit bulky, so you’d need a bit of room in your car or home to store them.

City Select vs Contours Options – Basket

In terms of stroller basket size and its carrying capacity, both strollers have a fairly large stroller basket. But the Contour Option has a larger basket compared to the City Select. You can carry items for two kids under the stroller seat. You won’t need to take that extra bag along with you all the time!

City Select vs Contours Options – Canopy

If you’re looking for a nice large canopy with your stroller, then both strollers are there for you. The City Select and the Contour Options have large extendable canopies to provide you kids with enough cover.

The City Select canopies are also UPF50/sun-proof and they help to protect your babies against harmful UV rays. This sets the City Select slightly apart from the City Select.

Colors

In terms of variety, both strollers have a few color options you can choose from. The Contours Options has 2 color options – Black and Grey, while the City Select has about 4 main color options – Grey, Blue, Dark Blue and Ocean Blue. This allows you to choose which color suits you best!

Its only Cons however are that it is more expensive than the Contour Option, and that the accessories cost a lot extra when you need them. Also it is quite heavy at 34 lbs. This might be harder for smaller parents to carry, and you’d need a car if you want to easily carry it around with you.
