Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Review

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 stroller hit the stores in February 2019, presenting another great option for parents searching for a good quality lightweight stroller. I personally like the Baby Jogger brand because they offer great quality strollers at super affordable prices, – which is what a lot of parents search for. I therefore don’t hesitate to recommend the City Tour 2 stroller to parents searching for a lightweight, compact stroller for their families.

The City Tour 2 is the new and improved version of the City Tour model that was released before 2019. The main difference between the two strollers is that the City Tour 2 was newly designed to be convertible into a travel system by attaching a car seat. Or can also be converted into a pram by attaching a carry cot. Note, both car seat and carry cot would need to be purchased separately.

The City Tour 2 also includes an improved recline feature, and a one-hand fold feature which were both not present in the City Tour model. I like this stroller cause of its sleek design, lightweight and compact easy fold. According to Baby Jogger, the City Tour 2 meets the Disney requirements for strollers, which means it is great for long trips and crowded spaces. If you live in a busy city and are always on-the-go, it’s always the best option to have a lightweight stroller that makes it easier to maneuver the streets, and put less strain on you. Here is a full Baby Jogger City Tour 2 review that provides you with all the information you’d need to make your buying choice.

City Tour 2 Stroller Features

Weighing only 14 lbs, the City Tour 2 includes all the features you’d every hope to have in an everyday stroller. This makes the stroller stand out more, as it is quite hard to find lightweight strollers with multiple everyday need features.

Car Seat Compatible: A big bonus of the City Tour 2 stroller is its car seat compatibility. This is very rare and hard to find in lightweight strollers as most of them are not sturdy enough or designed to carry a car seat. The City Tour 2 stroller can be fitted with either the City Go or City Go 2 infant car seats using the City Tour 2 car seat adapter. This is a great way to use the stroller either for newborns or toddlers. You won’t have to switch your baby from car seat to stroller seat especially when they’re asleep.

As a bonus, the car seat adapter is also able to fit any of the Graco Click Connect infant car seats. This is a nice bonus if you already have a Graco car seat. Note: The car seat and adapter need to be purchased separately.

Carrycot Compatible: In addition to be being car seat compatible, the City Tour 2 is also carrycot compatible. You can easily replace the stroller seat with the City Tour 2 Carry Cot, converting the stroller into a stylish pram. Note, this is also another great way to use the stroller for newborns.

3-Panel UPF 50+ Canopy: The first thing to note is that it is quite rare to find a 3-panel extendable canopy on lightweight stroller. Therefore, I like the City Tour 2 stroller even more cause it comes with a sun-proof 3-panel canopy that gives your kid full coverage and also provides protection against harmful UV-rays. This is definitely a plus for me!

Ventilated Bassinet: The second point on the City Tour 2 stroller canopy is that it includes an open-close ventilation mesh. This is that help to improve ventilation within the stroller for your kid. This also serves as a peep-through window in to the stroller. You can spy on your kid whenever you want to. Definitely another plus for me as I always liked to keep an eye on my babies when we’re on busy streets or on a long trip.

Stroller Seat:  The stroller seat is 13 inches wide with a 23 inches distance between it and the canopy. It is very well padded which provides your kid with extra comfort. Unfortunately the seat is not reversible so your baby is always facing outward and not you. You can only have this if you attach the carry cot or infant car seat. In addition, the stroller seat is only suitable from 3 months up to 45 lbs. You can only use if for newborns but attaching either the carry cot or car seat. Both of which need to be bought separately.

One Hand Multi-Position Recline: Next thing to know about the City Tour 2 stroller seat is that it comes with a multi-position recline which provides added comfort for your little one. It is perfect for sitting upright, laying flat for a nap or for a quick diaper change. In addition, the stroller recline feature can easily be activated using a single hand. This is a great because you won’t be required to manually adjust your stroller, which can be a hassle especially when on the go.

Adjustable Leg Rest: This is an additional feature that also wasn’t present in the City Tour model. It allows you change the leg rest position for added comfort. I always find this nice to have when babies sleep so their legs won’t keep dangling uncomfortably. This is also rare for lightweight strollers which gives the City Tour 2 another big bonus.

Rear-Accessible Stroller Basket: For a lightweight stroller, it is not surprising that the City Tour 2 doesn’t have such a large basket. However the size is still pretty decent and can fit diapers, bottles, and other small on-the-go items you might need.

Stroller Wheels: One point to note is that although the City Tour 2 is by Baby Jogger, it is not a jogging stroller. The wheels are not designed to tackle multiple terrain as a jogging stroller would. The stroller is designed to tackle smooth terrain but can also tackle other terrain decently. The stroller includes a front-wheel suspension aimed absorbing shock and giving your baby a smooth ride.

5-Point Harness: Safety is always important when picking a stroller for your child. Thankfully, this is covered by the 5-point harness of the City Tour 2 stroller. The harness is padded and adjustable with a quick release button. It keeps your baby safe and nicely strapped into the stroller.

Compact One-Hand Fold and Unfold: One of the best improved features of the City Tour 2 is it’s super easy fold and unfold feature. This is always great to have cause it means bye-bye to days of fighting to fold and unfold your stroller. The stroller lock is also automatically activated, locking the stroller in place when folded or unfolded. Personally, I thing this is a great innovative and parent-friendly feature to include in a stroller. The fold is also quite compact at 7 L x 17 W x 39 H. This is a great dimension for storing easily, or carrying with you when traveling.

One-Touch Rear Brake: Easy parking brakes are one of the top features to look for in a stroller. This stroller includes a one-touch foot brake that allows you easily activate the stroller brakes from the rear. Allows for smooth and easy parking.

Non-Adjustable Handlebar: Unfortunately, a slightly less pleasant feature is the handlebar height of the stroller. The stroller handle bar is not adjustable and is placed at 38 inches from the ground. This is a good height for shorter parents, however for taller parents, this might not be so ideal. I always prefer when brands make their stroller handles adjustable. It

Child Weight: At 14 lbs, the stroller is sturdy enough to carry child’s weight of up to 45 lbs. Note: It is important to stick to the recommended weight limit while picking a stroller for your kid. So I’d advise to only consider this stroller if your toddler weights 50 lbs or less.

Stroller Colors

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 stroller comes in three color options – Jet, Seacrest, Slate. Each stroller comes with the exact same feature, so you have the choice to pick what color works best for you.

City Tour 2 Stroller Accessories:

Carrying Bag: The City Tour 2 includes a carrying bag that allows you easily store and carry the folded stroller conveniently. Note: This is included in the stroller purchase and doesn’t have to be bought separately.

City Tour 2 Weather Shield: Baby Jogger offers a stroller rain cover which can be purchased separately. However, I find it a bit pricey at close to $40.

City Tour 2 Belly Bar:  Baby Jogger also offers an arm bar which can easily be attached to the stroller. This provides extra safety and gives your kid something to hold onto during the ride. This needs to be purchased separately.

Cup Holder: For parents who like to have cup holders, you can also purchase the cup holder separately.

Parent Console: Lastly, Baby Jogger offers a parent tray feature which can easily be attached to the rear of the stroller. Great for holding your cup, keys, etc. This also needs to be purchased separately.

Stroller Pros:

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 is a great stroller because it includes all the features you’d ever wish for in a stroller, especially for a lightweight stroller. Here is the breakdown of the stroller’s Pros:

  • Car seat and carry cot compatibility
  • Compatible with Graco car seat
  • Large extendable UPF 50 canopy
  • Multi-Position recline and adjustable leg rest
  • Five-Point Harness for stroller safety
  • One-hand fold and unfold
  • One-touch rear foot brake
  • Supports child weight of up to 45 lbs
  • Very affordable, full featured, lightweight stroller

Cons:

There are not a lot of cons to be noted for the City Tour 2 stroller as it already includes a lot of features you’d normally not get in a lightweight stroller. Main cons to be found are:

  • No child tray feature
  • Mid-sized stroller basket

Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Reviews

The City Tour 2 is quite a new stroller released in 2019. However, it has received a high number of positive reviews to date. 99% of all parents who purchased this stroller gave it the highest review possible. And after analyzing a number of parent reviews and feedback, these are the likes and dislikes of the stroller.

Likes
  • Compact fold. Fits well in small car and small spaces
  • Nice one-hand fold feature
  • Easy to maneuver and good for travel
  • Adjustable leg rest feature
  • Sturdy lightweight stroller with large canopy
  • Nice recline feature. Great for naps
Dislikes
  • No child tray or cup holder. Need to pay extra
  • Latch is sometimes faulty when folded
  • Stroller basket quite small for long trips
  • No self-standing fold

There were a lot of great feedback and reviews, but also a few things parents hoped were included in the stroller. For example, the stroller basket was mentioned to be quite small for holding stuff when going on long trips. However this is to be expected of lightweight strollers as they are normally built to be as light as possible. This includes giving up some storage space. In the end, the stroller is still a great option for a lightweight simple, travel/every day stroller. Based on the parent reviews and product features, the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 review ratings are:

YSG Overall Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

  • Product Features: 4.9 out of 5 stars (4.9 / 5)
  • Sturdiness and Quality: 4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)
  • Ease of Use: 4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)
  • Easy Fold: 4.9 out of 5 stars (4.9 / 5)
