Uppababy G Luxe vs Maclaren Quest – Features

Bassinet Stroller: Although neither strollers are car seat compatible, the Maclaren Quest is bassinet compatible. It has a birth kit option that can be attached to the stroller frame transforming your stroller into a stylish pram.

This gives you even more options for riding your stroller! Note: the birth kit needs to be purchased separately.

Maclaren Quest Birth Kit

The Uppababy G Luxe is unfortunately NOT bassinet compatible.

Newborn Stroller: of the two strollers, only the Maclaren Quest can be used for a newborn. The Maclaren Quest can be used from the birth of your baby – straight out of the hospital, till they are much older – up to 6 years old.

As mentioned earlier, the Maclaren Quest is bassinet compatible, so by replacing the stroller seat with the bassinet, your newborn can comfortably ride aboard the stroller. Once your baby is older (from 3 months), you can easily switch back to the stroller seat.

The Uppababy G Luxe is unfortunately not a newborn stroller. It can only be used for infants from 3 months old.

One-Hand Multi-Position Recline: both strollers have a one-hand recline feature. The Uppababy G Luxe reclines into three positions, while the Maclaren Quest reclines into multiple positions, including an almost flat recline.

With a nice recline feature, your baby can switch from sitting upright, to laying horizontally in a completely flat recline – especially great and convenient for taking naps.

In addition, each stroller has a footrest attached to the seats. This gives your baby some leg support while sitting on the stroller.

5-Point Harness: in terms of safety, both strollers have a 5-point harness system that keeps your baby safely strapped into the stroller seat. As babies tend to move around when you’re not paying full attention, the harness helps to keep them safely strapped into the stroller seat.

Quick One-Step Fold: Both strollers have a one-step quick fold features that allows you to fold up the strollers quickly and easily. The Maclaren Quest has the true one-hand fold that lets you fold up the stroller without having to free up both hands. While the Uppababy G Luxe requires you to use both hands.

The one-hand fold is always more convenient especially when you’re in a hurry or on-the-go. You can hold your baby on one hand and fold your stroller with the other.

Uppababy G Luxe vs Maclaren Quest – Pros and Cons

Uppababy G Luxe

Pros
  • Affordable with great quality
  • Super lightweight
  • All-wheel suspension system
  • Quick self standing fold
  • Great for older toddlers
  • Includes cup holder
Cons
  • Not car seat compatible
  • Not for newborns
  • Small basket

The Uppababy G Luxe is only suitable for toddlers which is its main Con. It cannot be used for kids younger than 3 months old. However, it is a great lightweight yet sturdy stroller that can be used till your baby is much older – up to 6 years old.

It received a lot of great feedback from parents for being very sturdy and riding well. It also has a nice stylish design and quality fabric that makes it stand out amongst most lightweight strollers!

Maclaren Quest

Pros
  • Newborn stroller with bassinet
  • Lightweight newborn stroller
  • All-wheel suspension system
  • Self-standing compact fold
  • Great for older toddlers
Cons
  • Small basket
  • Front wheels get locked easily
  • Lifetime warranty is hard to redeem

While the Maclaren Quest can be used for newborns and also has a lot of nice features, it also has a few Cons worth mentioning. A few parents mentioned that the front wheels sometimes get stuck making it difficult to turn the stroller. This is because the lock button is placed at the front of the stroller which is easily accessible for your toddler to tap on. And the front wheels might get locked without you being aware of it. This could be a big safety issue as you suddenly won’t be able to move the stroller when you need to. You’d need to keep an eye on this if you purchase the stroller.

In addition, Maclaren offers a lifetime warranty for the stroller. But they make it quite hard to get once you actually try to redeem it. So you shouldn’t 100% count on the warranty if you have issues with the stroller in the future.
