Uppababy Cruz vs City Mini – Features

Car Seat Compatible: Both the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 and Uppababy Cruz are car seat compatible. You can easily attach the Baby Jogger City GO infant car seat to the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 stroller frame. And the Uppababy Mesa infant car seat to the Uppababy Cruz stroller frame. While the Uppababy Cruz allows you to simply click in the car seat without any additional accessories, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 requires an adapter(already included) that lets you easily attach the car seat to the stroller frame.

Note: the car seats need to be purchased separately.

Bassinet Stroller: In addition to being car seat compatible, the Uppababy Cruz is also bassinet compatible. You easily attach the Uppababy bassinet to the stroller frame, transforming the stroller into a stylish pram for your newborn. Note: the bassinet is not included in the stroller price. It needs to be purchased separately.

The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is unfortunately not bassinet compatible.

Newborn Stroller: Although both stroller seats cannot directly be used for newborns, the strollers can still easily be made compatible for newborns. By replacing the stroller seats with an infant car seat or a bassinet (the Uppababy Cruz), you can safely carry your newborn aboard the strollers. Once your baby is old enough, you can switch back to the stroller seat. Both strollers can be used from the birth of your child till they are much older – up to 6 years.

One-Hand Multi-Position Recline and Footrest: the seats for both strollers can be adjusted into multiple positions using just a single hand. Your baby can switch from sitting upright to laying horizontally in a completely flat recline – it is especially great and convenient for taking naps.

In addition, both strollers have a footrest with the stroller seats. The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 stroller has a one-position footrest, while the Uppababy Cruz footrest can be adjusted into multiple positions. While the one-position footrest gives your child room to rest their legs while sitting upright, the adjustable footrest is great for when your kid sits in a different position or lays back for a nap.

5-Point Harness: in terms of safety, both strollers have a 5-point harness system that keeps your baby safely strapped into the stroller seat. A bonus feature for the Uppababy Vista harness is that it can be adjusted to fit the height of smaller or taller kids. So once your baby is older the harness doesn’t become too tight or uncomfortable.

Reversible Stroller Seat: The Uppababy Cruz has a reversible seat feature that allows you to adjust the stroller seat to be either forward or backwards facing. This allows you to have your child facing you or facing forward. It gives you more options for riding the stroller!

The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 unfortunately does not have a reversible seat feature. The seat is set to only face forwards.

One-Hand Stroller Fold: Both strollers have an easy fold feature that lets you fold them up quick and easy using only one hand. This makes it quite quick and easy to fold in one go. And in terms of compactness of the fold, the City Mini GT2 is a bit more compact than the Uppababy Cruz. The Uppababy Cruz is about 16.5 inches wide, while the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is at 13 inches wide. You’d however, still need quite a bit of space if you’re storing either strollers at home or carrying them in your car.

As a bonus, the strikers fold up into a self-standing position making it a bit easier to store in corners without worrying about it tipping over.

Adjustable Handlebar: the handlebars for both strollers can be adjusted to fit the height of the parent handling the stroller. This is especially great for tall and short parents, allowing you to have the handlebar adjusted to your height or your partner’s.

Uppababy Cruz vs City Mini – Wheels

Both the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 and the Uppababy Cruz strollers have great quality all-terrain wheels with a nice all-wheel suspension system for smooth and bump-free rides. This feature helps to prevent the stroller from juggling around while you move and helps to give you and your baby a nice ride over multiple terrains – grassy, and uneven paths.

They also both have lockable swiveling front wheels that help with easily maneuvering the stroller. But if comparing the two, I’d say the Uppababy Cruz moves more nicely and has a smooth and easy feel when pushing/maneuvering.

Uppababy Cruz vs City Mini – Weight & Capacity

Both the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 and the Uppababy Cruz strollers do not fall into the lightweight strollers category. They are both considered full-size strollers with lots of features for everyday use. But as a plus, they fall within a decent weight range for full-size strollers. The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is really lightweight at 21.4 lbs, while the Uppababy Cruz is just 25.5 lbs.

Uppababy Cruz Stroller Weight: 25.5 lbs

Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller Weight: 21.4 lbs

In terms of carrying capacity, both strollers carry quite a bit. The Uppababy Cruz can carry up to 50 lbs, while the City Mini GT2 can carry up to 65 lbs. At a carrying capacity of 65 obscure the City Mini GT2 can carry quite a lot compared to most strollers. This makes it suitable for big toddlers – up to 8 years old!

Uppababy Cruz vs City Mini – Dimensions

When unfolded, the Uppababy Cruz is more compact than the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2. It is only 22 inches wide, while the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is 25 inches. But I’d say, both strollers are quite compact and not so bulky compared to most.

Unfolded Dimension:

  • Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 – 41″L x 25.7″W x 42.8″H
  • Uppababy Cruz – 37 L x 22.25 W x 39.5 H.

Folded Dimension:

  • Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 – 13″L x 25.7″ W x 32.5″H
  • Uppababy Cruz – 16.5″ L x 22.8″ W x 33″ H

Once folded, the City Mini GT2 is more compact than the Uppababy Cruz. The Cruz has a more bulky fold at almost 17 inches in depth.

Uppababy Cruz vs City Mini – Basket

Both strollers have quite large storage baskets. The Uppababy Cruz basket can carry up to 30 lbs of weight and the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 also carries just about the same. This gives you enough room to carry your on-the-go items like diapers, bottles, toys, or snacks. You won’t always need to carry that extra bag with you.

Uppababy Cruz vs City Mini – Canopy

If you’re looking for a nice large canopy with your stroller, then both strollers are there for you. They both have UPF50, sun-proof canopies that help protect your kid against harmful UV-rays. Apart from the UPF50 features, the canopies are both of high quality fabrics and great design with a lot of attention to detail. They don’t get wrinkly or look of low quality material like most regular strollers have.

Colors

The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 stroller has up to 4 color options while the Uppababy Cruz has up to 5 options. This gives you a few options and allows you to pick a color that suits you more. Although the Uppababy Cruz has more distinct and lighter colors, the City Mini GT2 has darker shades.

Pros and Cons

Uppababy Cruz

Pros
  • Luxury design and style
  • Compact full-size stroller with self standing fold
  • All terrain wheels with easy and smooth maneuver
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Car seat and bassinet compatible
  • Reversible stroller seat
Cons
  • Quite expensive
  • Extra accessories e.g infant car seat, costs a lot more

The Uppababy Cruz is a luxury style stroller that includes great features, quality materials, and luxury fabric. This makes the Uppababy Cruz stand out amongst most full-sized strollers available on the market. However, the Uppababy Cruz is also way more expensive compared to most strollers. And if you’d like to get additional accessories, the price only keeps going up. So the price and the cost for the extra accessories are the main Cons for the Uppababy Cruz!

Baby Jogger City Mini GT2

Pros
  • More affordable!
  • All terrain wheels with suspension system
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Car seat compatible
  • Can be used be big kids
Cons
  • Not bassinet compatible

The City Mini GT2 is a more affordable alternative to the Uppababy Cruz stroller. It has almost all the features you’d get in most luxury style strollers. It’s only Cons are that it is not bassinet compatible and the stroller seat is fixed facing one position.

Although the City Mini GT2 doesn’t have the smooth effortless push that the Uppababy Cruz has, or the high end stylish look, it is still one of the top strollers in terms of features and affordability.
