Thule Urban Glide and Babby Jogger City Tour Ultra-compact Stroller Review

1.Thule Urban Glide 2 Stroller Review.

– the Thule Urban Glide 2 Stroller All-Season Carrier Review!

YSG Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Weight Capacity: 100lbs

The Thule Urban Glide has a twist hand brake has been added to the existing foot brake, while the lock and canopy have also been improved. New reflective details provide better visibility when out at night. Like other joggers, the Thule Urban Glide 2 has three large wheels in a triangle configuration. This, combined with the 16″ rear wheels and lockable ‘swivel’ front wheel, make for a stable jogging experience. The tyres are inflatable so need pumping every now and again, and the stroller has built-in suspension, making it a smooth ride. There’s two seat configurations that allow use from birth (with the additional purchase of a bassinet). The recline on the toddler seat lends itself well to jogging and is simple to use. You can lock the backrest at any angle, although it doesn’t go completely flat – which is why you need the separate Thule Bassinet for newborns (and what we used for baby Harriet). This clicks neatly into place on top of the toddler seat. It has a large canopy and apron, as well as a removable mesh cover, which protected her from the elements. The suspension definitely makes for a smoother ride and it transitions easily from pavement to grass/rubble and back again. The multi-position canopy with mesh side-ventilation windows also kept him cool and shaded from the sun. The Thule Urban Glide seat is equipped with a soft, padded 5-point harness. There are two brakes; the main ‘parking’ one is located between the two back wheels and is big and easy to operate by foot, although tricky in flip flops. It also has an integrated twist handbrake on the handlebar, which provides extra control if you’re running fast or downhill.

Thule Urban Glide 2 Stroller Features:

Wheels:

The Thule Urban Glide 2 has three large wheels in a triangle configuration. This, combined with the 16″ rear wheels and lockable ‘swivel’ front wheel, make for a stable jogging experience. The tyres are inflatable so need pumping every now and again, and the stroller has built-in suspension, making it a smooth ride.

Adjustable Handle:

Ergonomic handle on this buggy, which has five adjustable settings, making it comfortable to push whatever your height. I’m relatively tall so I ran with it on the highest setting but it’s easy to change even when at pace. Seat Recline/Backrest The recline on the toddler seat lends itself well to jogging and is simple to use. You can lock the backrest at any angle, although it doesn’t go completely flat

Storage Basket:

Plenty of room to bring everything you need with a large cargo basket with zip-top cover, rear mesh pocket, and two mesh compartments for snacks and toys.

Handbrake:

There is an integrated twist hand brake which provides speed control especially on hilly terrains.

Parkingbrake:

There are two brakes on the Glide. The main ‘parking’ one is located between the two back wheels and is big and easy to operate by foot, although tricky in flip flops. It also has an integrated twist handbrake on the handlebar, which provides extra control if you’re running fast or downhill.

Multi-position Canopy:

The Thule has a multi-position canopy with side-ventilation windows which ensures your child is comfortable. Whatever the weather is, the canopy got it covered. It’s a four-tier canopy and best in its class. With the pull-out sun visor, it comes up and over the baby spanning the length of the carrycot. With this, you do not need to waste your money on strollers that don’t shade or fall off and it’s a great shield in short showers if you don’t have your rain cover.

Compact Fold:

One-handed, compact fold for easy storage and transportation. Its compact fold and narrow design makes it convenient to bring everywhere and at only 27” wide, it fits through most doorways with ease! The self-stand and upright fold means there’s no need to bend over anymore to get it in the car. Folding is two-step, but you can do it using one hand and it takes literally a few seconds. You just need to bring the backrest to the front and then push the handlebar down. It’s a piece of cake! And you can do it with the seat attached, both rear and front facing.

Foot Rest:

As babies grow, a more comfortable leg rest is important, the Thule stroller has that feature that older and taller children can use as a footrest.

Pros
  • Assembly is really quick
  • The stroller is lightweight
  • It has a ‘lock’ function for rougher and hillier surfaces to provide better maneuverability.
Cons
  • It’s not safe to run with a baby less than 8 months old, as they won’t have the head and neck strength to counter the jolts and bounces

Conclusion:

This stroller is designed to smoothly tackle all types of terrain and to pilot at a wide range of paces, with a front-wheel that swivels but can also be locked in place for more stable jogging. Like the Thule website states, “Every Thule stroller meets the most stringent safety standards with features such as a 5-point safety harness to ensure your child’s security.” In other words, Thule takes no shortcuts when it comes to form, function, or safety.
