Maclaren Quest Review

– the complete Maclaren Quest Review!

YSG Rating: 4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Weight: 15.5 lbs

The Quest is a lightweight newborn and toddler stroller from the top brand Maclaren! It is carrycot compatible, providing you an option to carry a newborn comfortably aboard the stroller. It also has a nice carrying capacity of up to 55 lbs – making it suitable for toddlers up to 7 years old.

It is a good quality lightweight stroller that can be used for both a newborn and a toddler. The only downside is that the stroller costs quite a bit more than most lightweight strollers. I refer to it as a luxury style lightweight stroller because it costs a bit more than most but also has better quality compared to most lightweight strollers.

It included a few simple features for everyday use like – a 5-point harness for safety, a one-hand fold, an all-wheel suspension for a smooth ride, and a UPF50 sun-proof canopy for UV-rays protection.

Here is a quick overview of all its features:

Maclaren Quest Stroller Features

Bassinet Stroller: The Maclaren Quest stroller is not car seat compatible, but is bassinet compatible. You can easily attach the Maclaren bassinet to the stroller frame, transforming it into a nice stylish pram.

Newborn Stroller: Although the stroller seat cannot directly be used for a newborn, you have the option to replace the stroller seat with the Maclaren bassinet. With this option, your newborn can safely ride aboard the stroller. And once your baby is older, you can easily switch back to the stroller seat.

Note: the bassinet is not included in the stroller price. You’d have to purchase it separately!

Multi-Position Recline: The stroller seat has a one-hand multi-position recline. You can easily adjust the stroller seat into multiple positions using only one hand. With this feature, you can have your baby either sitting upright or laying back to rest or take a nap.

5-Point Harness: In terms of safety, the Maclaren Quest stroller seat has a 5-point harness system which helps to keep your baby safely strapped to the stroller seat. As kids tend to move around while you’re not paying full attention, the harness helps to keep them safely strapped into the stroller seat.

All-Wheel Suspension System: the Maclaren Quest has an all-wheel suspension system that helps to provide a nice bump-free ride. The suspension system ensures that you stroller does not jiggle around when you go over the smallest bump.

Flip-Flop Friendly Foot Brakes: for more ease of use, the stroller has flip-flop friendly foot brakes that allows you to quickly and easily apply the brakes on the stroller with a single toe tap.

One-Hand Compact Fold: the Maclaren Quest has a one-hand quick food feature that lets you fold up the stroller really quick and easy. It also folds up really compactly making it easy to carry with and to store.

Storage Basket: For storage, the Maclaren Quest has a large rear-accessible basket for storing your on-the-go items. You can carry your diapers, bottles, toys or snacks while on-the-go.

Extendable UPF50 Stroller Canopy: Another great part of the Maclaren Quest Stroller is its large extendable canopy that provides your kid with enough cover. The stroller canopy has a UPF50, sunproof fabric that helps to protect your baby against harmful UV rays.

Child’s Weight: The stroller has a base weight of just 12.8 lbs, but with the canopy and basket, it goes up to about 15.5 lbs. It is not as lightweight as advertised, but it is still quite light. It is also able to carry up to 55 of child weight which makes it a lightweight yet sturdy stroller. This is suitable for big kids even up to 6 years old.

Maclaren Quest Reviews

Before making a buying decision, it is always nice to review the pros and cons before going with a stroller. Here is a short overview for you:

Pros
  • Super lightweight at 15.5 lbs.
  • Newborn stroller with bassinet option
  • Lifetime warranty
  • All wheel suspension system
  • Suitable for big kids – 6 to 7 years old
  • UPF50 sun proof canopy
Cons
  • Very pricey!
  • Unfold the stroller can be tricky
  • Not car seat compatible
  • It’s quite hard to get the warranty

The Maclaren Quest is a luxury style lightweight stroller. Making it quite pricey compared to most lightweight strollers. However, it’s level of quality and features makes it stand out more when compared to the average stroller. It has quite a number of Pros – lightweight, newborn option, UPF50 canopy, etc. But it also has a few Cons – pricey, not car seat compatible, hard to claim warranty, etc.

The Maclaren Quest is quite pricey compared to most lightweight strollers – almost double the price. It’s only suitable for parents who are ready to pay more than average for quality and a cool brand.

The other main Con for the Maclaren Quest is the stroller warranty and how difficult it could be to claim it. Although it says you have a lifetime warranty, Maclaren does not easily offer you a replacement when you request for it. Unless your stroller has a major technical default or flaw, it isn’t quite easy to get a replacement. A lot of parents reported being unable to replace their strollers as Maclaren attributed most issues to wear and tear.

As a final rating of the Maclaren Quest – reviewing its features and parent reviews, the stroller gets:

Overall YSG Rating:  4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Price for Quality: 4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Sturdiness: 4.1 out of 5 stars (4.1 / 5)

Ease of Use and Maneuverability: 4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)
